Significance of Mahashivratri (Mahashivratri ka Mahatva)

Mahashivratri is celebrated on the 13th or 14th day of dark half (Krishna Paksha) of Phalgun maas. In year 2019 it will be celebrated on 4th March. Most of the ceremonies take place during night. It is observed in honour of Lord Shiva. It is believed that he was married to Parvati on this day. Though there are other beliefs as well about why Shivratri is celebrated.

Significance of MahaShivratri: Mahashivratri is considered to be a very powerful and auspicious day. It is believed that he who utters the names of Shiva during Shivaratri, with perfect devotion and concentration, is freed from all sins. 

Any mantra recitation or sadhana which is done on this day is 1000 times more powerful than a normal day. 

What Should You Do On Shivratri: As already explained above that this is a very powerful day so you can, at the minimum, do the following things:

• People observe strict fast on this day. Some devotees do not even take a drop of water.They keep vigil all night. The Shiva Lingam is worshipped throughout the night by washing it every three hours with milk, curd, honey, rose water, etc., whilst the chanting of the Mantra Om Namah Shivaya continues. Offerings of bael leaves are made to the Lingam. 

•  If you are already wearing a rudraksha or you are going to wear it. Please energize it on the day of Shivratri. It will be ten times more powerful.

•  If you are having a Kaal Sarpa Dosha in your horoscope, doing all the activities mentioned above in first bullet, will help wash its malefic influence. 

• If the Moon is weak in your horoscope or it is giving negative effects, doing the activities given in first bullet will help in strengthening/propitiating the Moon.  

These are just some of the numerous benefits that Shivratri may bring to you. So, please understand the importance of this day and do not let it go waste. Let us utilize every minute of this day and fill our lives with spirituality.

महाशिवरात्रि फाल्गुन मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की तेरहवी या चौदहवी तिथि को मनाई जाती है । साल 2019 में महाशिवरात्रि 4 मार्च को मनाई जायेगी । महाशिवरात्रि पर ज्यादातर समारोह रात के समय होते हैं । महाशिवरात्रि भगवान् शिव की याद में मनाई जाती है । ऐसा माना जाता है की इस दिन भगवान् शिव का विवाह पार्वती से हुआ था । 

महाशिवरात्रि का महत्व: महाशिवरात्रि का दिन बहुत ही पवित्र और बहुत शक्तिशाली होता है। ऐसा माना जाता है की जो शिवरात्री के दिन पूरी श्रद्धा और भक्ति से सिर्फ भगवान् शिव का नाम भी ले लेता है उसके सभी पाप धुल जाते हैं और वो दुखों से मुक्त हो जाता है । 

इस दिन जो भी मंत्र जप या साधना की जाती है वो बाकी दिनों के मुकाबले में 1000 गुना ज्यादा शक्तिशाली होती है । 

शिवरात्री पर क्या करें: जैसा की पहले ही ऊपर बताया जा चुका है की यह दिन बहुत शक्तिशाली होता है इसलिए आप नीचे दी हुई चीज़ें इस दिन कर सकते हैं ।

•  इस दिन लोग कड़ा व्रत रखते हैं । कई शिवभक्त तो व्रत के दौरान पानी भी नहीं पीते । वे सारी रात जागकर शिवलिंग की पूजा करते हैं । और हर तीन घंटे बाद शिवलिंग को ॐ नमः शिवाय का जाप करते हुए दूध, दही, घी, शहद और गुलाब जल इत्यादि से धोते हैं। बेल पत्र शिव लिंग पर चढ़ाया जाता है जो बहुत पवित्र माना जाता है । इस दौरान ॐ नमः शिवाय का जाप लगातार चलता रहता है । 

• अगर आपने पहले से रुद्राक्ष पहना हुआ है या फिर पहनने वाले हैं तो रुद्राक्ष को शिवरात्री वाले दिन अभिमंत्रित करके डालिए । 10 गुना ज्यादा शक्तिशाली होगा ।

• अगर आपकी कुंडली में काल सर्प दोष है तो आपको ऊपर दिए हुए पहले पॉइंट में दी गयी सारी चीज़ें करनी चाहिए । काल सर्प दोष का विष धुल जाएगा । 

• अगर आपकी कुंडली में चद्रमा कमज़ोर स्थिति में है या फिर यह आपको खराब असर दे रहा है तो भी आपको ऊपर दिए हुए पहले पॉइंट में दी गयी सारी चीज़ें करनी चाहिए ।

 शिवरात्री के दिन के बहुत सारे फायदों में से ये सिर्फ कुछ फायदे हैं । इसीलिए इस दिन का महत्व समझिये और इस दिन का एक क्षण भी व्यर्थ मत जाने दीजिये ।
