In the past few days I have got numerous queries from the readers asking about the auspicious muhurta for buying a vehicle. So, I thought to write this post to let all my readers know that a forbidden time is approaching in May in which new vehicles should not be purchased. There are several other activities which should and should not be done during this period which will be explained below. This particular time is called 'Adhik Maas'. It starts from 16th May 2018 and ends on 13th June 2018.

What is Adhik Maas

It is also called adhik maas, mal maas or purushottam maas. There is a surya sankraanti in every hindu lunar month. It happens in a span of 2-3 years when a particular lunar month does not have surya sankranti in it. This particular month is called adhik maas.

What Should be done during Adhik Maas

All tasks which have already been started before adhik maas started, charity, worship, shraadhh (last rites), any work connected with government, fasting, mantra recitation, recitation of vishnu sahasranaam and srimad bhaagvatam gives special benefit as this month belongs to lord Vishnu, daily rituals etc.

What should not be done in this period

Because this maas (month) is considered to be inauspicious except for charity, recitation and worship activities, there are several things which should not be done in this period like wedding, mundan (shaving the head of a child for the first time), entering a new house (Griha Pravesh), wearing new clothes, buying a new vehicle, naam karan sanskaar (Giving name to a baby), buying jewellery, starting the construction of a new house etc.

Note:

If something like griha pravesh or buying a vehicle or any other forbidden work is unavoidable during the Adhik Maas then you can worship Lord Vishnu, get his blessings and do the work.

पिछले कुछ दिनों में कई लोग मुझसे गृह प्रवेश और वाहन खरीदने का मुहूर्त पूछ रहे थे तो मुझे लगा की मुझे ये पोस्ट लिखनी चाहिए जिसमे मैं सबको बता पाऊँ की मई से एक ऐसा एक महीने का समय आ रहा है जिसमे कई चीज़ें मना हैं । इस एक महीने के समय का नाम है अधिक मास । इसे मल मास या पुरुषोत्तम मास भी कहते हैं । अधिक मास 16 मई 2018  से शुरू होकर 13 जून 2018 को खत्म होगा ।

अधिक मास क्या होता है:

हर चन्द्र मास में एक सूर्य संक्रांति आती है । जिस चन्द्र मास में सूर्य संक्रांति नहीं आती उसे अधिक मास कहते हैं । अधिक मास 2 से 3 साल में एक बार आता है ।

अधिक मास में क्या कर सकते हैं :

ऐसे सभी काम जो अधिक मास शुरू होने से पहले शुरू किये जा चुके थे उन सभी को जारी रखा जा सकता है, दान, जप, पूजा अर्चना, श्राद्ध, सरकारी काम, व्रत, मंत्र जप, विष्णु सहस्रनाम और भगवत गीता का पाठ अत्यधिक फायदा देता है क्योंकि यह मास विष्णु भगवान का मास कहा गया है, नित्य कर्म इत्यादि ।

अधिक मास में क्या नहीं कर सकते :

इस मास में कुछ ऐसे कार्य हैं जो त्याज्य हैं जैसे विवाह, मुंडन, गृह प्रवेश, नए कपड़े खरीदना और पहनना, नया वाहन खरीदना, नाम करण संस्कार, गहने खरीदना, नया घर बनाना शुरू करना इत्यादि ।

नोट: अगर ऐसी कोई स्थिति है जहाँ पर अधिक मास में त्याज्य कोई काम करना पड़ रहा है और वो टाला नहीं जा सकता तो विष्णु भगवान् से प्रार्थना करके वो भी कर सकते हैं।
