Can One Get Married During Navratri ? (Kya Navratri me Vivaah Kar Sakte Hain ?)

Dear Readers,
 

I have come across this questions from many of the readers that can one get married during Navratri days. Because marriage is always done on an auspicious muhurta and Navratri being very auspicious period leads to this thinking that marriage can be done during this period.

I would like to let my readers know that the whole focus in Navratri is on internal and external purity. To follow this, people refrain from having sex, avoid onion, garlic, non veg and alcoholic drinks etc. This is the best period for mantra chanting, worship, meditation etc. Hence Marriage is a complete misfit for this period because in marriage lot of focus is on satisfying physical needs through sex. 
Hence I would strongly recommend not to go for marriage during Navratri. The same has been recommended in our ancient scriptures as well.
