There are some auspicious and inauspicious omens while getting up and seeing the first thing in the morning.

Auspicious:

Seeing a beautiful lady, a girl or a fish.
Seeing a swan, a cow or a peacock.
Seeing an elephant, flowers and pot full of curd.
Seeing the teacher or the preceptor.
Seeing the sugarcane.

Inauspicious

Seeing a crow.
Hearing the cries of a weeping person.
Hearing anyone sneezing.
